saving carrier bags

When we were walking to school this morning I noticed a sign that had been stuck to a lamp post urging people to visit a site about saving the great british carrier bag! I couldn't believe it, and so just checked it out, and sure enough somone has started a petition to save carrier bags!!!! admitedtly they want them to be biodegradable, but why can't they just take resueable bags shopping with them?????thank god only 14 people have signed up so far.
