Plymouth half marathon

Last Sunday was the Plymouth half marathon, the weather was fantastic, too hot for the runners though really. I wasn't running however, i was drumming! Our African drumming group- Drum Elburton were at the half way mark to cheer on and support the runners. I expected it to be fun, but didn't realise what a buzz it would be. The runners were really appreciative , and were clapping and thanking us for being there as they ran past.It was such a great atmosphere and I was on such a high afterwards. It felt good that we had helped the runners along, and the whole experience sort of sealed the deal.... I think I'm going to enter the half marathon next year!

It sounds a bit mad in the cold light of day, less than a year ago I couldn't run more than a few metres, but I really love running now, and have actually managed 7 miles. I really want to do this to prove to myself what I can achieve. I've added a running record into the sidebar of this blog, so I can keep a track of how I'm doing. I'm going to be realistic- maybe I'm not up to it physically, but I won't know unless i give it a try. So I'm going to do the training as if I'm going to be entering and we'll see how it goes. If (when ) i do it i think I'll raise money for cancer research as i know so many people who have died or been affected by the condition, and I'd like to have my grandad's name / picture on my t-shirt. He passed away a couple of years ago, and i always felt close to him , and know he would've been proud of me doing it so i'd like to run for him, and I think having him in mind will spur me on.
