Sculptures at Delamore

On Sunday we finally made it to the sculpture exhibition held annually in May at Delamore near Cornwood, just outside of plymouth. We've been intending to go for the last couple of years but I'm pleased to say we finally did it.
The weather was fantastic and we had a great time exploring the garden discovering all sorts of sculptures. I think the leaflet said there was something like 120 in total.
I was really surprised at the variety of styles of work. There were some really cool things made from recycled metal such as the bird above.
I loved the mosaic mirrors that were dotted around under trees, and would love to have a go at making something like that myself.
Unsurprisingly , one of Joe's favourites was the metal dinosaur.

And both Joe and Maisie loved the baby elephant.

This wooden seat had the words "love" and "hope" carved into the top of it.
And I loved this sort of goddess figure, I think it could make a great starting point for a rag rug or some sort of textile piece....oh so much inspiration!

Although the scupltures and garden are only open in May the trail led down to a nice little gallery in delamore which is open all year round , so we may pop down there some time to see what's going on, and we'll definitely go and visit the exhibition again next year.
